Anyone in grades K–12 in the state of Alaska! If you’re not sure, ask yourself this: Am I in elementary, junior or senior high school or being home schooled and in 12th grade or below? If your answer is yes, then you’re in! (If you’re not sure, ask your parent, guardian, teacher, bus driver, etc. They can help you out.)
We are proud that the final selection committee is made up of individuals who have helped shape our unique “Spirit of Alaska.” Click here for full judge profiles!
Everything had to be postmarked by midnight, October 18, Alaska Time.
Great question. We’ll respond by throwing that question right back at you. Is the “Spirit of Alaska” the uniqueness of our citizens? Is it love for the outdoors? Is it the beautiful environment? It’s all these things and more!
Sorry. We want to keep all the entries we receive (we'll need to get a really huge fridge to display them).

While we appreciate that you love our state as much as we do, this contest is only open to current students of Alaska. Students enrolled in grades K–12 in other states or countries may also participate if at least one parent is a state of Alaska resident who is on active military duty in another state or country.
Congratulations! We’re happy you graduated. But unfortunately you’re a few months too late for our contest.
The art gallery will open in early January. Depending on the popularity and use of the site, the gallery could stay open for most of 2009!
To see all of the wonderful designs from our winners, runners-up and finalists, check out the gallery. And to all Paint the Plane participants — thanks for helping us celebrate 50 years of statehood and the Spirit of Alaska!
